Art Impressions and Eyelet Outlet

Hi Eyelet Outlet fans! This is Annette from A. Spoon Full of Sugar. We're on day six of the Art Impressions swap. It has been a great partnership. Their stamps complement our brads and bling so well.

I chose the Island Window from their Windows on the World line. I knew it would go well with the seashell, flower and pineapple brads - not to mention the newly released flying bird brad.

When I first received the stamp, I colored it with Copic markers. It looked okay and I'm sure it would have worked just fine with this card, but something just didn't seem right to me. Ever have that feeling? I decided to go to AI's web site to look at some of the cards in their gallery. Then I stumbled upon some fantastic videos by Bonnie Krebs, the owner of Art Impressions. After watching a few of them, I knew exactly what to do.

I stamped the image on water color paper and used my heat tool to ensure the ink was completely dry. Then, I used my Tombow markers, but I didn't color directly on the paper. Instead, I laid down some ink on my acrylic block, then used a brush that I had dipped in water. I pinched off the excess water and applied the color. The result is this beautiful water color image. I think the water color medium works really well with the image.

I stamped the image again with a bright pink color and adhered the water color image on top, leaving only the sentiment to show. I added the brads and a few little banners before affixing it to the card base, which I embossed to create a wave-like effect.

The sentiment reads "Wiggle your toes in the sand by the Sea, dream of tomorrow and all that can be."Aaaaah! Don't you just want to do that right now!?!

Here is a closeup of the image.
