Paper Sweeties June Release Rewind!

You saw all the new releases yesterday, now see how they can be used with existing stamp sets. Today's card uses the umbrella stamp and matching Sweet Cut from the new Showering You With Love  set. Then, I stamped several flowers from the Sending Sweet Thoughts stamp set and colored them with Copics. Then I cut them out with the complementing Sending Sweet Thoughts Sweet Cuts.

It's hard to tell, but the clouds are two different sizes. The larger cloud is from the new Showering You With Love Sweet Cuts, but the small cloud is actually the top of a cupcake from the Sending Sweet Thoughts Sweet Cuts!! It looks like a cloud!!

The final Paper Sweeties products are the sign and sentiment. Both come from the Wagon Add-On Bloom and Grow set.

So there you have it - one card using three different sets. Want to see other sets that work together? Check out the other design team's creations!

Paper Sweeties June Release Party!

It's release day!! The new stamps and dies are available for purchase at the store today. You can find them in the What's New section.

This card uses the boots stamp and die from the Showering You With Love Set and the sentiment is from the Splish Splash set. I colored the boots with Copics and the puddle is drawn by hand. I guess the cat is out of the bag. I can't draw. That's why I love stamps! The hard work is already done for me. Fortunately, a puddle and some splash marks are pretty easy to create.

Check out what my team mates are up to. I'm sure they have something fabulous for you.

Paper Sweeties June Release Countdown!

The countdown to release day continues at Paper Sweeties. Tomorrow, you will be able to purchase the new June releases. Want to see another sneak peek? Check out the very CAS card I made using the new set called Splish Splash. The image of the birds kissing on a branch with an umbrella over them comes from the set, as does the sentiment. However, the hearts, the two tiny blue birds and the birdhouse are from previous releases. They look like they belong together!

I colored using Copic markers. I'm disappointed that you can't really see the hearts sparkle. I went over every heart with a clear Wink of Stella pen. You can't tell in the picture, but in real life, the hearts look sooo pretty.

How about counting down with the rest of the team? Here is the full lineup of dt members showing off the new releases:

Paper Sweeties June Release Sneak Peeks!

Who's ready for the next Paper Sweeties release!? More adorable stamps and dies will be available for your purchase in just two days. Here's a sneak of of one stamp with an accompanying die.

This card uses an umbrella stamp and coordinating die from the Showering You With Love set. Wait til you see the fun images and dies in the set. I chose the the paper because it looked like hearts were falling from the sky. It seemed like the perfect complement to the sentiment. The hearts on the umbrella and beside the sentiment are also from the same sheet of paper. I fussy cut them and applied them with foam dots. I finished it off with some enamel dots and voila.

Curious about this release? Want more sneaks? Head over to my team mates' blogs for some more peeks of the new releases. Don't forget that Paper Sweeties also has a challenge going on. One lucky winner will receive a gift card to the store. Click here to participate!

Five Very Different Cards Using Only Two Sets

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to stop by the Simon Says Create event store. Because I only live about two miles from the event, I had to go. While there, I picked up a few stamp sets, including Scribble Flowers and Lots of Thanks. I love how the handwriting (which is the real handwriting of Kristina Werner) complements the flowers. They go so well together.

Anyhoo, I decided to search on Pinterest, Etsy and Google for scribble flower designs and I found a LOT. This led to an idea. Why not create several different cards using the same set to show its versatility?

That's exactly what I did. Below are five very different cards all created with the same two sets.

So, what do you think? Which is your favorite?

Finally Trying Virginia's View Challenge!

I have been chomping at the bit to play in a challenge founded by one of my blog friends, Virginia Lu. She created a challenge called Virginia's View where she posts various themed challenges.

The current theme is Do With What You've Got - make a tag or scrapling using materials you already own with at least one recycled item. As luck would have it, I went to a bridal shower on Sunday. The hosts wrapped the utensils in a pink napkin, then a smaller piece of burlap over the napkin and wrapped it in pink raffia and added a silk flower. I jokingly said to everyone at my table "Hey, I'm going to save my burlap, string and flower to use on a card. Then, everyone at the table gave me their burlap, string and flowers!

I soon put my new-to-me supplies to good use on the card above. The burlap and pink ribbon are recycled from the bridal shower. The card measures 3.5x7". Why the unusual size? Because I used some scrap paper I found on my work table. I took the challenge to heart and used only scraps of paper. The stamps and sentiment are both from Simon Says Stamp. I just happened to pick them up on Saturday at the Simon Says Create event, which was just a couple miles from my house! (I bought them before entering the challenge, so I consider them part of my existing stash.)

I inked up the stamps in distress inks, misted them with water then stamped them onto some scrap watercolor paper. I then stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black, added bling, the string, lace tape and burlap before mounting it onto another piece of scrap paper, which was a recycled scrap from a print shop! I used three recycled items!!

I had fun playing with my scraps. I hope you enjoy the card as much as I enjoyed making it.

House of Cards Designer's Hop

Paper Sweeties is sponsoring the latest House of Cards challenge by giving the winner a $20 gift certificate to the shop. The Paper Sweeties designers were invited to hop along, so here I am!

They have a super fun challenge AND tons of great prize opportunities for those of you who join in the fun!!! :)  You should have arrived here from Annette Allen's blog.  If you haven't, please start all the way back at the House of Cards hop post and follow the list found in the body of the hop post!

Today we're creating cards based in this inspiration piece.

I love how the softness of the flowers contrasts the rustic metal basket. The colors are neutral and somewhat monochromatic, but the textures more than make up for the lack of bright vivid colors.

For this reason, my card uses lots of texture. I incorporated canvass, which is framed in metal. The white canvass with the word Love stenciled in black reminded me of the canisters. I used flowers from the Paper Sweeties Hippity Hoppity Easter Wishes stamps and sweet cuts. I distressed the edges to give it that rustic look. Then I filled in some of the dead space with the Tutti Frutti sequins, also available at the shop.

Now it's time to start hoppin'!  Your next stop is Char Cundy!  If you get lost along the way, you can always head back to the original blog hop post -- and don't forget to link up a project at the House of Cards blog after completing the hop for an extra chance to win a mystery prize from one of our fabulous sponsors, too!

Paper Sweeties June Inspiration Challenge #20 - 'Princess Party'

The Paper Sweeties team is having a party!! It's a princess party and you're invited! Our June challenge starts today and the them is Princess Party. Create a project using the photo and color combos below as your inspiration.

Every little princess I've met, including my adorable daughter, loves cupcakes. C'mon, who doesn't love cupcakes? This set uses the Stand Add On - Fresh Baked and the Sending Sweet Thoughts stamp set and dies. Whenever I create something inspired by a color palette, the first thing I do is look through my stash of patterned paper. I pull the papers with the colors that most closely match the palette. I do this because it's easier to create something around papers you have rather than look for the perfect paper after you've invested your time coloring something only to discover you don't have matching paper. Consider that your free tip of the day. LOL!

Come see what my teamies made. Then, after they have inspired you, create something for the challenge. You have nothing to lose, but you could gain a gift certificate to the Paper Sweeties Shop. Often times, I feel intimidated to enter a challenge when I don't own any of the company's stamps. Paper Sweeties has already taken care of that for you. Check out the Try Us For Free page to get free digital stamps!! When you're done, link up your creation here.
