Hi everyone. I'm back with another card for the Frosted Designs sketch challenge. With July 4 around the corner, I decided to make a fun card with a fireworks theme.

Trying a New Challenge

Hi everyone. Today I am trying something new. My friend Melinda Gleissner has been encouraging me to participate in the Stampendous challenges. Today, I finally entered one and I have to say, it's been really fun. (Then again, what challenge isn't fun for this challenge addict! LOL!)

I made two cards for this one. The first card uses the tire swing stamp, which I colored using Copic markers. The sentiment is from the Perfectly Clear Happy Messages set. I made the sun with my Cameo and then I stuck a little birdie on it. The poor birdie misses his friend, who used to swing on the tire swing. :-(

Card number two is much happier. How can I possible enter a challenge with summertime theme without using ice cream!? I can't. If you know me well, then you know ice cream is my all-time favorite thing to eat in the whole world!! I love ice cream. This card uses the blockart owl eating ice cream stamp. I also colored him with Copic markers. I added a gem to top the treat. As you can see, the inside of the block is cut away. I'll share with you how I did that trick. First, I stamped the owl on Copic blending paper, colored him and cut him out. Then, I stamped the image again on cardstock, making sure to center it. I cut away the inside of the block. Then I paper pieced the colored owl onto the image with the cutaway center. I used foam dots to give it dimension and adhered it to a card with gingham patterned paper. There you have it. The sentiment is also from Happy Messages set.

New Frosted Designs Challenge

Today we've posted a new sketch for the Frosted Designs card sketch challenge. I decided to indulge in my new obsession -  washi tape. I love it. I love all the pretty designs and all the clever ways it can be used. My card below uses all washi tape except for the sentiment and the flower.The inside reads "Hello."

Why not give this sketch a try. You can use washi tape, paper, ink - whatever your heart desires. You just have to make a card following the sketch. You could win some fun prizes and make new friends. All you have to do is go to Frosted Designs and click on the Current Card Sketch at the right.

I wish I could stay and chat a little longer, but I've had a rough week. Hubby hasn't been feeling well, so I've been holding down the fort. Both kids are out of school for the summer, so the fort is really more like a zoo! LOL! Needless to say, I'm tired!! Hope you all have a great week!

Get Color!!

Today I have the honor of posting to the Scrapstreet Magazine blog. Below is the card I created. Find out how I came up with the color palette using a new free tool called Chip It! (No, I'm not getting kickbacks from Sherwin Williams. I just think this is a neat tool for artists and crafters.)

Frosted Designs Sketch 19

Hi everyone. It's Card Sketch Tuesday at Frosted Designs. Today I actually made a card with someone in mind. This is a graduation card for my nephew Ryan, who will be graduating from high school in a couple weeks. I'm  pretty sure he doesn't read my blog. (17-year-old boys don't really fit my demographic. LOL) His mother, my sister, may read this. Ellen, if you read this, don't show it to Ryan!

I created the stars and sentiment with my Silhouette Cameo. The image is from this week's sponsor, Floppy Lattes Digital Design. I imported it into my Silhouette, cut it out and colored it with my Copics.  Hop on over to Frosted Designs, enter the challenge and you could win some fun digis.

Thank You, Ginger

I love the crafting community. Not only are they talented and creative individuals, but most of them are honest, sincere, warm-hearted people. Almost every comment I read on blogs are positive and encouraging. On the rare ocassions when someone makes a negative comment, I read several more offering support and encouragement. You are all a special breed and I am honored to be a part of this great group.

However, something that happened to me recently has impressed me beyond measure. A couple months ago I was at a scrapbooking expo in Columbus. At the end of the show, I was checking out when I discovered the bag of goodies I had purchased earlier was gone. I looked all over the booth. I retraced my steps. I asked everyone at every booth I visited if they had seen my things, but to no avail.  I went to the lost and found. Nothing. I left my name and number with everyone in case it would show up later. I walked out  disappointed, mostly with myself for not keeping track of my goodies.

Then, nearly a month later, my husband answers the phone. It was Ginger, a woman at the show who found my bag. She wanted to return it. She got my number from one of two credit card receipts - not the new digital receipts, but the old fashioned kind that you swipe. Turns out the card number was on them, too.

Last week, I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) to find a package with all the crafty goodness I bought at the show inside. The credit card receipts were in it too.  Ginger had taken it upon herself to see that my bag was returned to me safely. Thank you Ginger, for your honesty. The world needs more Gingers out there.

I made this card mostly with the items Ginger returned to me. I am sending it to her to let her know how much I appreciate her honesty. I'm also sending her money to cover the cost of shipping my package to me. I really love the result. I think it's because I made this from deep within my heart (no pun intended). Seriously, I poured all of my gratitude into this card. I hope it shows and I hope it blesses Ginger, who greatly blessed me.

Howdy everyone.

I'm sharing a quick card today. I made this for the Frosted Designs Card Sketch challenge and the Pink by Design blog. Yup. I'm killing two birds with one stone.
