Paper Sweeties October 2015 Inspiration Challenge

It's the beginning of the month, which means a new challenge is up for Paper Sweeties. This month brings pumpkins and pretty fall colors just like the inspiration photo.

My inspiration from this photo came from the burlap, wood and lace. I took some kraft card stock and ran it through my wood grain embossing folder. I die cut the burlap flowers using the die from the Pretty Posies Sweet Cuts and adhered them with some pearl brads. I stamped the sentiment from the You Are Fab set. Some lace tape and twine finished it off.

Please continue hopping along for more inspiration. Cheryl is your next stop. Then, when you're done, make a card or other project using Paper Sweeties products and enter the challenge!

RIC 91

This will be the quickest  blog post ever! I am entering this in the Runway Inspired Challenge 91, which expires very soon! Yikes! It's been a busy week, but I'm determined to enter this challenge because I love it!

Here is the dress for this challenge:

And here is the card inspired by it:

I took my cues from the color palette, the solid flat colors (there was no shading or highlighting) and the bold black lines. I used the Painted Poppy set from Altenew and did lots of masking to make some flowers look in the forefront and some in the rear. The sentiment is also an Altenew set called Label Love.

Oh, I also want to quickly mention that I got the new Altenew inks and used several of them to make this card. They are amazing. They are nice and juicy and you get a crisp, clean image right from the start!

Thanks for visiting!

Whimsical Wishes

Now that I've cut back on design team commitments, I am having more time to create projects purely for the sake of creativity. This card is one of them.

To create this whimsical card, I first tinted embossing powder with some dye ink before spreading it across my stencil. Then, I layered a doily, some vellum, gold thread and a few pieces of paper I had previously die cut, but decided not to use. The sentiment is Superscript from Altenew. I finished it off with some enamel dots from Eyelet Outlet and voila - the card was done.

I think this will be an excellent birthday card for a young girl. Thanks for visiting!

Paper Sweeties September 2015 Inspiration Challenge #35

It's September, which means the kids are in school, fall is approaching and Paper Sweeties has a brand spankin' new challenge! The inspiration photo below sums up September perfectly.

Here is my interpretation of the inspiration photo:

I used a label die from the Beautiful Little Wishes Sweet Cuts, a sentiment from The Sweeties Wagon set and some sequins. The apple brads are from Eyelet Outlet.

More inspiration awaits. Please visit the rest of the design team's blogs for additional ideas. Then, create your own project and post it to the challenge for a chance to win a prize!!

RIC 90

I love inspiration challenges and the Runway Inspired Challenge has to be one of my favorites. I love how cutting edge fashion can spark creativity using paper and ink as a medium. My card was inspired by this sweet, feminine dress designed by:

http://runwayinspired.blogspot.com/2015/08/ric90-monique-lhuillier.html

I used Fresh Cut Florals from WPlus9 stamps. It's an oldie, but a goodie. I consider this stamp set a classic. The sentiment is from Altenew's Label Love. Can I say, I love that set? Why yes, I can say it and I just did! There are so many basic sentiments. It's a must have!

I distressed a white doily in Mustard Seed and the printed vellum was something I found in my stash. I thought it went perfectly with that really light gray background.

Please consider joining the challenge if you're the card-making type. It's a lot of fun and a great way to stretch your skills!

Wish ...

I'm throwing my hat into the ring for two challenges - The Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge (anything goes) and the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge. Here is the sketch:

Aaaaand here is my card based on the sketch:

I created the wavy rainbow with Stitched Slopes and Hills die by Simon Says Stamp. The star is also a Simon die from this set. I had to use a stamp from one of my favorite stamp companies, Altenew.
Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Paper Sweeties August Inspiration Challenge #34 - Happy Birthday

Woo hoo! It's party time at Paper Sweeties and do they have a lot of fun stuff lined up for you this month. "Why?" you ask. Paper Sweeties is turning three!

This month is chock full of inspiration, prizes, giveaways and a whole lot more! You're going to want to check the blog and like their Facebook page because, trust me, you don't want to miss out on any of these opportunities.

First, we're kicking it off with the monthly challenge, which is appropriately themed "Happy Birthday." Check out the sweet palette of pastels and the scrumptious cupcake inspiration photo.

The foundation of Paper Sweeties are the adorable SWEETIES paper dolls. Debbie, the owner, developed the concept for a line of dolls with outfits and accessories in June, 2010, and developed follow up sets with beautiful frames, labels, banners, sentiments and lovely images followed.  She officially launched Paper Sweeties in August, 2012.

Because of this, I'm featuring one of the dolls, Sophie, on my card. I always color Sophie's hair brown because it is the same color as my daughter's hair. :-) Sophie is wearing one of the many adorable outfits in the Paper Sweeties boutique.  I chose to embellish the card with stars because the cupcakes in the inspiration photo looked sort of like stars to me.

Please enjoy the rest of the hop. Your next stop is Cheryl Lea. The entire list is below. Have fun!!
